The author experimented with resurrecting a dead torrent tracker by acquiring a previously unused domain and setting up a tracker, which quickly attracted over 3 million peers. While acknowledging the legal gray area surrounding such activities, the author decided to shut down the operation out of concern for potential repercussions. The article highlights the challenges of centralization in torrenting and the role of trackers in peer discovery.
