Now they’re flying back and forth from Seattle to Tijuana for every match because their logistical staff can’t get U.S. visas. Taremi called the setup “a disaster,” pointing out that they lack recovery coaches and kit managers on site, even though Infantino once promised fixes after meeting the team following the game against New Zealand. Taremi also questioned whether Iran is genuinely wanted at the tournament—he pointed out that after 90 minutes on the pitch, the team still faces a long bus ride back to Tijuana. On the field, Iran drew 1-1 with Egypt, finishing third in Group G. They now depend on other results: Algeria and Austria must tie, DR Congo must beat Uzbekistan, and Croatia needs at least a point against Ghana for Iran to slip into the knockout stage as one of the best third-place sides.
