Micron and Anthropic have signed a multi-faceted deal tying AI model requirements directly to memory and storage design, supply and deployment. On the technical side, the two companies will co-design AI-optimized memory architectures, test how high-bandwidth memory (HBM), DRAM and SSDs perform across Anthropic’s Claude workloads, and measure impacts on power use, latency and token economics. Sumit Sadana, Micron’s EVP and chief business officer, said the pact will push next-gen AI infrastructure from data centers out to the edge.
Under a concurrent supply agreement, Micron will provide its full data-center memory portfolio to Anthropic over multiple years, matching the AI lab’s planned compute expansion. That ensures Anthropic gets guaranteed deliveries of HBM, DDR5 DRAM and NVMe SSDs as it scales its training clusters. The deal also includes Micron’s purchase of Anthropic equity in a Series H financing round, cementing their shared interest in building out AI hardware ecosystems.
Micron isn’t just selling parts. It’s already using Claude internally to speed up software development, automate engineering tests and streamline manufacturing processes. Early results at Micron show faster code iteration and more efficient workflows. By combining Anthropic’s models with Micron’s chips, both firms expect clearer performance metrics and tighter integration between AI software and memory hardware.
