The Pearcleaner repo hasn’t seen updates recently because its maintainer joined a friend’s SaaS startup and is swamped with full-time work. He plans to return once his schedule eases and will address the outstanding GitHub issues. In the meantime, anyone with Swift or SwiftUI skills can submit pull requests; they’ll be reviewed as capacity allows. Pearcleaner 5.4.3 is a free, source-available Mac app cleaner under the Apache 2.0 + Commons Clause license. It combines features from Freemacsoft’s AppCleaner and Sun Knudsen’s Privacy Guides script. You get orphaned file detection, drag-and-drop or CLI uninstall, Homebrew and PKG managers, a Finder extension, architecture stripping without Xcode’s lipo, plus a theme system and exportable file lists. A Sentinel Monitor watches the Trash, using about 2 MB of RAM for automatic cleanup. The app requires macOS 13.x Ventura or newer (14.x Sonoma, 15.x Sequoia, 26.x Tahoe). Versions before 13.0 lack the needed Swift/SwiftUI APIs. You can grab prebuilt releases from GitHub or install via Homebrew Cask: brew install --cask pearcleaner Pearcleaner’s Commons Clause prohibits any monetization of the app or its derivatives.
