Google’s Gemini app now runs natively on macOS Sequoia (15.0) or later, but only on Apple Silicon machines. Once installed, you can call it up anywhere with a global shortcut—Option + Space for the mini chat, Option + Shift + Space for the full window—and get instant answers without switching tabs. You can also pin Gemini to your menu bar or Dock for quick access. The app can peek into your current window when you enable Accessibility in System Settings. Hit “Share window” and pick the app or document you need help with. Gemini then scans what’s visible—code, spreadsheets, web pages—and offers context-aware suggestions, formulas, or summaries. You can upload files directly into the chat to speed up complex tasks. On the creative side, Gemini ties into Google’s Nano Banana for image generation and Veo for video creation. That means you don’t have to leave your desktop to draft visuals or clips. All your chats, history, and any personalized memory sync across devices as long as you’re signed into the same Google account. To get started, download Gemini from the Mac App Store at no cost in any country where it’s supported.
