High There, a Denver-based app, works just like Tinder but only for people who consume marijuana. Users build profiles, swipe on nearby matches and set preferences for how they take weed—vaping, smoking or edibles. You can even note your typical energy level when you’re high, so you won’t end up with mismatched partners like laid-back couch surfers paired with adrenaline seekers. Todd Mitchem launched the app after one of his own dates folded as soon as his companion discovered he smoked pot. He saw a gap: millions of cannabis users have no dedicated space to meet others who share their habits. High There also doubles as a weed-friendly social network. Folks swap dispensary tips, ask questions or just shoot the breeze with others in legal markets. Right now the app runs in the 23 states with medical marijuana laws, using geofencing to block users elsewhere. Mitchem says expanding into a new state is as simple as flipping a switch and he’s got his eye on Canada and other countries as they loosen restrictions. High There is free on Android and is rolling out to Apple’s App Store soon.
